Do I need to have my own sewing machine?

Ideally yes. However, if you don't have a machine already, Nicki will bring one suitable for beginners to the lessons for you to use during the lesson time.

Once you have mastered the basics, investment in a machine would be a great advantage so you can practise and create outside of the lesson times. I can help you to select a machine suitable to your level and needs.

If you do have your own machine, it needs to be in good working order with a selection of spare sewing machine needles to hand. 

Nicki will help you to thread your machine properly and clean the main areas but machine maintenance and repairs need to be done professionally. 

How long are the lessons?

Pricing is based on a 60-minute lesson.  I recommend 90 - 120 minutes per session.  
To make the most of your lesson time, please set up your sewing area ahead of Nicki's arrival.  At the end of the allocated time, Nicki will need to leave promptly as the days can sometimes be quite tightly timed. 

Are there any age restrictions?

The minimum age for the standard lessons is 14.

Are there any extra costs above the hourly rate?

You will need to provide the fabric and thread plus any notions (zips, buttons etc.) for your choosen project. Small quantities of specialist items such as stiffener, fusible webbing etc. can be purchased from Nicki's "Mobile Sewing Kit" at cost. You will also learn where to source items needed for your projects and to make the most of existing items (recycling and upcyling):

Nicki recommends you have your own basic sewing kit of tap measure, scissors, pins etc but she will bring the necessary items to get you started if needed.

If any additions parking costs are incurred these will be added to your invoice at cost.

The hourly fee covers trave within 20km of Hünenberg Dorf. For locations further away, milage is charged at CHF 1.-- per km.

Groups

To make sure everyone receives assistance during the lesson, group size is limited to a maximum of 3 students. 

Languages

Tuition can be in English or German as preferred. 

Payment terms

Payment for all lessons is in advance by PayPal, invoice, TWINT or by cash on the day. 

If you need to reschedule a lesson, we ask for 24 hours notice. There is no extra charge for rescheduling.
